Institute for Special Children is a non government, welfare institute in the province of Baluchistan that started working for children with special needs on 10th April 1957. The main objective of the institute at that time was to provide support and basic education to children who had speech and hearing disabilities.
The School is situated in a rural area in the suburbs of Quetta, the capital city of the largest, yet, most underdeveloped province of Pakistan.
Under normal circumstances children who are hard of hearing are taught the use of sign language, however we emphasise on speech development. Education and Vocational training is provided with the help of digital assistive Devices for which our teachers have been trained beforehand.
The institute for Special Children provides Children with special needs (Hard of Hearing) education from nursery to class 8th, along with vocational training.
Emphasis is on speech development of the children, and for this purpose the latest technologies and scientific methods are used.
Until now over 100 children, out of a total of 220, students have developed a handsome amount of hearing and speech.
All this and more is done for free which makes this school one of its kind in the entire country.
This institute is THE oldest organization in the field of education and rehabilitation of the hearing impaired in the Province. It is providing quality education to the hearing impaired children since 65 years.
